Usage: The causes of uterine prolapse in sheep are multiple: - Mineral deficiencies - Traumatic (pushing during concentrate distribution) - Obstetric (early contractions) Uterine prolapse (inversion of the uterus) occurs before parturition in sheep. Insertion of a pessary should be done after cleaning and replacing the genital tract. Always use disposable gloves and obstetric gel. To keep the pessary in place, attach it to the wool or place a loop on the ewe's girth that will serve as a fastener for the pessary loop. The pessary must be able to be expelled during lambing. It is advisable to closely monitor ewes with pessaries to avoid problems with lambing and lambing.
